This is my journey of becoming a horse trainer while working for our own software company (for now). No, we do not live on a farm (we go to one 6 miles away), we live in a gated community and pick up our kids via golf cart at the end of the day. Our house is equipped with a bunch of technology and home automation. We even have our own business creating apps for various smart tv, and set-top boxes. I know how crazy that sounds as I hear it all the time. Why change?
We made a decision to one day (before we are too old) shut it all off, buy a farm, raise horses, and essentially live off the land. We discovered that horses make us very happy, and when we are at a farm we have no stress. We love being able to disconnect from our technology.
I have been riding for at least 6 months now with a trainer on a horse that we were half leasing. Recently we decided it was time to adopt our own. The horse we adopted is named Bully. He is slightly green which basically means he needs to be trained in some things but can be ridden. I have been working with a trainer, and reading anything and everything I can get my hands on so I can learn.
I decided to write this blog so anyone thinking of doing the same but possibly less spontaneous could see and possibly learn from my journey. I am not naive, I know this is going to be very challenging but also rewarding.
