Bully is an 11-year-old Standardbred gelding. I adopted him on February 12, 2017 from a horse rescue that I was taking riding lessons from already.
From what I was told, his former owner had gotten sick and could no longer take care of him. He is gaited, and was trained as a Pacer, and to pull a sulky cart in racing. He had raced about six times, coming in 2nd or 3rd on one of his races. There is a long line of Pacers in his family, some winning thousands of dollars.
During his first few weeks with me and a trainer, we noticed that Bully does require groundwork training, manners and consistent saddle training. He can be ridden but needs to learn to “whoa”, as well as his transitions . He seems to want to please, can be lazy at times, needs a job, and is very affectionate.
